Paris-based Prime Entertainment Group has licensed cinematic documentary Daphné du Maurier: In Rebecca’s Footsteps to Austria’s ORF.
The 52-minute doc feature explores the author’s work that inspired and was subsequently adapted into Alfred Hitchcock’s films such as Jamaica Inn, The Birds and Rebecca. The documentary uses photographs, archival footage, and shots of the windswept landscapes of Du Maurier’s beloved Cornwall, while a selection of talking heads — including her daughter, Vicountess Tessa Montgomery of Alamein, and her biographer, Tatiana de Rosnay — discuss her childhood and life within her famous and bohemian family, her development as a writer, and her complex domestic life.
Prime had previously sold to ORF documentary New Orleans, In the Heat of Night, which explores the tumultuous socio-political climate of the city after Hurricane Katrina.
