Paris-based studio SUPERPROD has acquired The Co-Production Company, a New York-based boutique firm specializing in finance and distribution arrangements for international productions.
The Co-Production Company founder and CEO Doug Schwalbe has been named president of Superprod US Inc., alongside former Cartoon Network executive Tatiana Krokar, who has been named vice president. Krokar will be based in Los Angeles, and will co-report to Schwalbe and to senior vice president, Animation, Virginie Creance.
Schwalbe will work closely with SUPERPROD founders CEO Clément Calvet and COO Jérémie Fajner, to expand the company’s North American footprint, as well as help manage and produce a diverse slate of both live-action and animated productions.
Schwalbe founded The Co-Production Company in 2021, after serving as senior vice president of Co-production for Dreamworks Animation Television.
The slate of children’s television productions currently under The Co-Production Company banner will remain active within SUPERPROD, including live-action coming-of-age comedy Home Sweet Rome, an Italian/Canadian co-production based on a concept by Michael Poryes, creator of Hannah Montana and That’s So Raven.
In addition to a full slate of animation, including pre-school series Anna and Friends, debuting on Nickelodeon U.K. in September, SUPERPROD’s slate showcases a variety of feature films, currently being readied for premiere. Among them, Mr. Blake, At Your Service, starring John Malkovich and Fanny Ardant, and The Lulus, starring Francois Damiens.
