The legendary director of Italy’s RAI 3, Angelo Guglielmi, passed away in Rome on July 11. He was 93 years old. Guglielmi took the helm of RAI’s third TV channel in 1987 and held it until 1994. In addition to creating new shows and innovating the channel, Guglielmi was a broadcaster lent to politics (from the political left). He was well-known in the international TV industry and was often seen attending trade shows, like MIP-TV and MIPCOM, together, during the same period, with other TV channel directors like Carlo Fuscagni (RAI-1) and Giampaolo Sodano (RAI-2). This is a rarity at today’s RAI.
