VIS, a division of ViacomCBS, entered a first-look deal with Cine Vaquero, the production company owned by Mexican actor Luis Gerardo Méndez and Gerardo Gatica.
Méndez rose to fame for his role in the comedy The Noble Family, and he has gone on to star in Netflix’ Club de Cuervos and the Focus Features film Half Brothers. Gatica is best known for producing Alonso Ruizpalacios’ Museo, which won a Silver Bear at Berlinale. The deal includes the creation, development, and production of exclusive Spanish-language scripted and non-scripted content for VIS and Paramount+ Latin America.
JC Acosta, president of ViacomCBS International Studios & Networks Americas, stated, “At VIS, we pride ourselves in partnering with the best talent and creatives to secure first look deals that ensure we get the best global content. Working with Luis Gerardo Méndez in Los Enviados for Paramount+ has been an amazing experience, and we are excited to partner with his production company, Cine Vaquero, to produce one-of-a-kind stories and content.”
Méndez added, “We are incredibly excited to partner with VIS. We’ve been working hard the past two years to find the right stories to create the kind of content in our language that we would like to see on TV.”
