After 17 year at RAI, Italy’s state broadcaster, Luigi De Siervo resigned from his latest position as president of RaiCom, the group’s program sales distribution arm. Because of his closeness with Italy’s prime minister, Matteo Renzi, De Siervo was hoping for a bigger position, like RAI’s General Manager. After that opportunity did not materialize, De Siervo found himself at odds with the current RAI’s GM Antonio Campo Dall’Orto, a former Viacom Italy’s executive. Under De Siervo, RaiCom generated a few controversies, especially by re-organizing what was a successful Rai International’s satellite distribution system and by slowing down program sales.
