MTV has renewed Sonar Entertainment’s The Shannara Chronicles for a second season. The series, based on Terry Brooks’ novels of the same name, follows a group of heroes in a post-apocalyptic future who begin a quest. The first season ranks as MTV’s top-rated new series this year, and the series is also the highest grossing digital download for a single season on MTV. The Shannara Chronicles is executive produced and written by Al Gough and Miles Millar, with Jon Favreau, Jonathan Liebesman, Terry Brooks and Dan Farah also serving as executive producers. The Shannara Chronicles is co-produced by MTV, Sonar and Farah Films, with Sonar distributing internationally.
