The Peabody Awards have released the first group of winners in The Peabody 30, which honors programming in news, radio/podcast, web and public service. The awardees include the investigation of volunteer fire departments in Pennsylvania in Burning Questions: WTAE Investigates Fire Response Times (WTAE-TV), reporting on refugees from Syria and other Middle Eastern war zones in Desperate Journey (PBS/WETA-TV), internet privacy issues in Do Not Track  (donottrack-doc.com) and European Migrant Crisis/A New Life in Europe/The Year of Migration (BBC News, BBC World Service, BBC Radio), among others. The Peabody Awards are based at the University of Georgia’s Grady College of Journalism and Mass Communication. The remaining slots will be unveiled over the next week.
