Mexican-born playwright and television writer Tanya Saracho (How To Get Away With Murder, Looking, Girls) has been tapped as showrunner for Starz series Pour Vida. The series, currently in development, focuses on the relationship between food, heritage, culture and gentrification. Pour Vida follows twin sisters, Brook and Lyn Hernandez, who inherit an East LA building from their deceased mother and open a wine and tapas bar, Pour Vida. They soon find themselves fighting for tenants’ rights against displacement in a rapidly gentrifying neighborhood, and try to protect their mother’s legacy from erasure, their neighborhood from the Great White Bridge about to bring jalapeño chicken hummus wraps to the barrio.
