Netflix has announced that a second season of Degrassi: Next Class has been ordered for this summer. The series, created originally by Linda Schuyler and Kit Hood in 1979, is the fifth in the franchise. The previous iteration of Degrassi ended its 14-year run on TeenNick last year, but then Netflix secured a deal for a revival, which aired in early 2016. DHX Media and Epitome Pictures are the producers of the teen drama, which deals with themes of homophobia, racism, body issues, substance abuse and heartbreak. Entertainment One handles Canadian distribution for Degrassi: Next Class, while DHX Media runs international distribution.
