Singapore-based History Asia will premiere Roots on May 31. The series, developed by History from A+E Studios, will air over four consecutive nights at 9pm (PH/BKK/JKT) and 10pm (SIN/HK). Roots is a historical portrait of American slavery that recounts one family’s journey and their will to survive despite the immense trauma. Forest Whitaker, Anna Paquin and Laurence Fishburne are part of the cast, which also includes Jonathan Rhys Meyers and Anika Noni Rose. Malachi Kirby stars as Kunta Kinte. A+E Networks handles international distribution for Roots.
