Lionsgate and Silver Pictures Television have set a script deal titled New People at Freeform (formerly ABC Family). Feature film writer/director Don Roos (The Opposite of Sex) will write and executive produce. The acclaimed bestselling novel Becoming Nicole: The Transformation of an American Family by Amy Ellis Nutt inspires the series. Joel Silver and Rodney Ferrell will executive produce through Silver’s shingle and Lionsgate Television, where Silver has a first-look deal. Ferrell oversees the television division of Silver Pictures. In other Lionsgate news, Bruce Greenwood (American Crime Story: The People vs. OJ Simpson) has been cast in the role of Dr. Jake Houseman in the production of special event movie Dirty Dancing, produced by Lionsgate in association with Allison Shearmur productions.
