21st Century Fox and U.K. satellite TV operator Sky have invested in web-based soccer subscription-video service FuboTV. The growing startup has raised $15 million in Series B funding, with Sky and 21st Century Fox each chipping in $6 million. The Series B round also includes investments from DCM Ventures, Luminari Capital, Edgar Bronfman Jr., managing partner at and former NBA commissioner David Stern, among others. FuboTV, which launched in January 2015, offers subscribers an over-the-top bundle of live soccer matches, club videos, series, documentaries and other content in English, Spanish and Portuguese. Since kicking off, FuboTV has signed up more than 40,000 U.S. subscribers, with a focus towards among millennial males who are not traditional pay-TV customers. The company says the new funding will expand its lineup of TV networks and build new features to enhance the viewing experience.
