Sonar Entertainment’s fantasy series The Shannara Chronicles debuted successfully in the U.S. on MTV in January, and is currently rolling out in territories across the globe. The series, based on Terry Brooks’ books of the same name, is set in the distant future, and follows elf-human Wil (Austin Butler), Elvin princess Amberle (Poppy Drayton), and human rover Eretria (Ivana Baquero), as they fight an evil army of demons intent on destroying the world. In the U.K., the February 25 premiere on newly rebranded 5STAR delivered a rating more than three times the time slot average. On the iTunes U.K. Television Store, The Shannara Chronicles made it onto the top five of all TV episodes in its premiere week. The series is now ranked third in the U.K. iTunes store under the Sci-Fi and Fantasy categories, after Game of Thrones and The X Files. The series has also premiered in France, Italy, Spain, Portugal, the Netherlands, Australia and the Middle East.
