Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) has unveiled plans for a centralized database for rights information on Japanese content, reported Variety. The database is set to launch in the 2016-2017 fiscal year, and will be translated into multiple languages and available to potential rights buyers worldwide, and will include rights information on films, animation and music. The database is part of METI’s plan to triple Japan’s overseas right sales to JPY20 billion ($166 million) from FY2013 to FY2018.
