In other FilmRise news, the company has acquired the distribution rights to two of Gaumont’s Emmy Award-nominated series Hannibal, and Hemlock Grove. The deal allows FilmRise to distribute all three seasons of both programs on the FilmRise branded OTT apps in the U.S. The announcement was made jointly today by Max Einhorn, SVP of Acquisitions & Co-Productions for FilmRise, and Nicolas Atlan, president, Gaumont USA.

Hannibal, created and written by Bryan Fuller, explores the early relationship between renowned psychiatrist Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) and a young FBI criminal profiler (Hugh Dancy), who is haunted by his ability to empathize with serial killers. Hemlock Grove, based on Brian McGreevy’s best-selling debut novel of the same name, premiered on Netflix in 2013 and stars Famke Janssen (X-Men) and Bill Skarsgard (It). The series examines the strange secrets and happenings that are a part of daily life in the small Pennsylvania town of Hemlock Grove, where the darkest evils hide in plain sight.
