PBS Documentaries Prime Video Channel is premiering four new American history docs next month. Making Black America: Through the Grapevine is Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr.’s newest series about the vast social networks and organizations created by and for Black people. In the four-part doc Gates sits with noted scholars, politicians, cultural leaders and old friends to discuss this world behind the color line.
Two features from Academy Award nominee Stanley Nelson and Nicole London are also being added to the channel: Harriet Tubman: Visions of Freedom, about the woman known as a conductor of the Underground Railroad; and Becoming Frederick Douglass, the story of how a man born into slavery became one of the most prominent statesmen in American history.
Also premiering next month on the channel is Stanley Nelson’s doc The Murder of Emmett Till, about the 1955 teenager murder case in Money, Mississippi.
