Day 2 at MIPCOM began with a Buyers Award Networking Breakfast and closed with a showcase and cocktail by KION at 5 p.m. and the traditional UniFrance (formerly TVFI) party at 6 p.m. In between, there were 19 events, including a conference on “How Streaming is Changing Drama” and a lunch keynote session on “Adapting to Keep On Winning.”

Judging from yesterday, the market attracted more people than expected, including several participants who decided last-minute. The total tally will be known tomorrow, during the MIPCOM press conference, however it is estimated at some 2,000 participants. Naturally, it’s a far cry from the pre-pandemic number of 12,000 attendees, but for a start it is considered a fantastic number. Also surprising was the number of parties on the opening day, with five counted.

In terms of safety protocols, today was a “red bracelet” day (yesterday it was green). The mandatory bracelets were given to participants to wear at the entrance of the market area, after health personnel controlled negative COVID tests and/or vaccination cards.

As to the stands, many are rather elaborate, with some of them featuring pre-pandemic styles and dimensions, especially those set up by Turkish companies.

Today, MIPCOM organizers RX France and MIP Markets also announced plans to launch OneMIP, a global networking platform and content showcase for the TV industry, as a complement to their annual physical markets. OneMIP launches on December 6th 2021 in ‘beta’ form for a limited number of invited applicants.
