The Singapore Media Festival (SMF) will be held in a hybrid format for its seventh edition.
Hosted by the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA), the 11-day festival will showcase a mix of physical and virtual offerings that highlight the sector’s creativity and resilience. Held from November 26-December 6, 2020, SMF consists of the Asian Academy Creative Awards (AAA), the Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF), ScreenSingapore (SS), the Singapore International Film Festival (SGIFF), and the inaugural SuperGamerFest (SGF).
On the industry side, the ATF will feature a full market and conference experience online and the Southeast Asian Film Financing Project Market will return in a virtual format to connect new project ideas to investors and financiers.
In addition, the region’s rising media talent and content creators will participate in AAA and the 31st edition of the Singapore International Film Festival.
Howie Lau, assistant chief executive of Media and Innovation at IMDA, commented, “This year has been undeniably challenging, but the resilience and creativity of our media community as they navigate uncharted waters, adapt, collaborate, and continue telling our stories has been inspiring. This has brought on a fresh wave of new experiences and uncovered growth opportunities for the region. As the market re-opens and global players look to tap on the diverse stories in this region, we stand ready to celebrate novel ideas, talents and innovation, and to reimagine Asian storytelling for the global stage.”
