AMC Networks’ Acorn TV ordered Whitstable Pearl from Buccaneer Media.

Based on the novels by Julie Wassmer, the British crime drama follows local celebrity Pearl Nolan, a chef-proprietor of the eponymous Whitstable Pearl restaurant. She is also the proprietor of a newly formed detective agency, allowing her to finally put her distant police-training to use.

Kerry Godliman (pictured) will star in the lead role as Pearl Nolan. The series will exclusively premiere on Acorn TV in North America, New Zealand, Australia, and the U.K. in 2021. Cineflix Rights will handle international distribution.

Catherine Mackin, managing director of Acorn Media Enterprises, noted, “Acorn Media Enterprises is excited to commission television adaptations of Julie Wassmer’s popular seaside mysteries. We’re thrilled to have Kerry Godliman in the lead role and are sure our subscribers worldwide will love this character, picturesque seaside setting and intriguing mysteries.”
