Synergy88 Entertainment Media‘s new animated series Barangay 143 will broadcast on GMA 7 beginning this October.
Produced by Synergy88, TV Asahi, and August Media Holdings, the Filipino anime series is a coming-of-age story about a young Korean boy who comes to the Philippines in search of his father. He is taken in by a team of misfits into the energetic life of street basketball. Themed concerts featuring music stars like Gloc-9 and Shanti Dope will lead up to the series debut.
Joey Abacan, first vice president of GMA’s Program Management, commented, “GMA has always been known to support anything that champions Filipino talent and promotes our culture. We are immensely proud to be the network carrying the first Filipino anime drama series.”
