TRT World launched on the U.K.-based digital satellite platform Freesat. Headquartered in Istanbul, the English-language international news platform offers the Turkish perspective on current affairs. TRT World is available to Freesat viewers on channel 215. The 24/7 news platform features on-the-ground reporting and in-studio programming, such as Money Talks and Showcase, among others. Regarding the distribution deal with Freesat, TRT World’s managing director, Murat Akguc, commented, “TRT World is strengthening its worldwide position as a global news organization and this deal will enable us to reach out to U.K. homes to provide an alternative viewpoint on world events, challenging perceived narratives and providing a much-needed perspective on news.”
