NATPE Budapest will take place June 19-22 at the InterContinental hotel in Budapest (its returning home after relocating from Prague last year). VideoAge, which will have a large presence at the market, caught up with JP Bommel, president and CEO of NATPE, ahead of the market to find out the answers to three “W”s and an “H” for those preparing to attend.
VAI: How will this NATPE Budapest differ from previous editions?
JB: New at Budapest this year we have a few new initiatives:
Our matchmaking/concierge service to facilitate meetings between sellers and buyers by combining the database technology and our CEE ambassadors on the ground.
With the importance of business intelligence, we have devised two programming sessions that will take place on Monday afternoon before the market starts to kick off and give our exhibitors and sellers regional business insights to capture new business opportunities afforded by the rise of “new platforms” for distribution in CEE, and a session focused on regional breakout hits showcasing what type of content works in their region.
VAI: What is the mix between market floor time and conferences?
JB: NATPE Budapest is first and foremost a business marketplace where content buyers and sellers engage. For the most part the conference sessions take place outside of the market hours during breakfast, lunch and at the end of the day to provide an impactful, informative and International balance to the overall conference experience.
VAI: Why is the event starting earlier this year?
JB: This is purely due to logistics with the hotel and area.
VAI: When is the next NATPE Budapest going to take place?
JB: Still in discussion, the dates for 2018 and 2019 will be announced shortly, and as soon as we lock them down.
