The award, presented in Berlin at the 55th annual Rose d’Or ceremony, recognizes those who have made an outstanding contribution to television or radio entertainment throughout their careers. The Rose d’Or awards, first presented in 1961, are given to the best radio, television and online entertainment programs from the previous year. This year they will be held on September 13. Cleese, who began his career in the mid-1960s, is known for his iconic role on the Monty Python team and sitcom Fawlty Towers. He also appeared in films such as Clockwise, A Fish Called Wanda and the Harry Potter series.
