Shonda Rhimes, creator and writer of Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and Private Practice, will be honored at Mipcom in Cannes this year, where she will receive the Personality of the Year award. Disney Media Distribution distributes Rhimes’ slate of shows, produced by her banner Shondaland, to over 250 territories in 67 languages. Rhimes, whose credits also include How to Get Away with Murder and The Catch, will be celebrated at a gala dinner for top international television executives at the Carlton Hotel, Cannes, on October 19, 2017. Rhimes will also deliver a Media Mastermind keynote at the market.
