The Mark Gordon Company has released details for the television series The Barbary Coast, a throwback drama series that will be directed and co-written by Mel Gibson. The series, which begins with the Gold Rush of 1849, stars Kurt Russell, and Kate Hudson. Gibson will also co-star via a recurring role in the show. The project is influenced by Herbert Asbury’s book The Barbary Coast and recreates an era of gold-seekers, gamblers, thieves, harlots and politicians who battle for power in a lawless new city. Entertainment One will handle international distribution of The Barbary Coast.
