Sky and Sony Pictures Television have entered a multi-year, pan-European agreement. This deal is Sky’s first multi-territory movie pact with a major Hollywood studio. The agreement is a first of its kind for both the companies, and sees Sony films, both new and future ones, accessible on Sky’s subscription and transactional services in the U.K., Ireland, Germany, Austria and Italy. The films (including this summer’s Ghostbusters reboot and the new Angry Birds movie) will be available a few months after their theatrical releases, and over a year ahead of any other subscription service, the partners said today.
