The first edition of Montreal’s newest international film festival, the Canada China International Film Festival (CCIFF), will be held September 16-19, 2016. The festival, founded by Canada China ArtTech and mDreams Pictures, is meant to build a relationship between the artistic communities of Canada and China through screenings, pitching sessions, digital and interactive tech summits and women-centered forums. The honorary president of the CCIFF is director Xie Fei, winner of the Silver Bear prize at the 40th Berlin International Film Festival for the film Black Snow. Beverly Shaffer, director of the Academy Award-winning 1977 film I’ll Find a Way and Gao Feng, vice president of ChinaCentral Television (CCTV) are on the festival’s jury.
