U.K.-based independent production company 7 Wonder has landed a commission for BBC Four to produce Skinhead. The hour-long special features director, DJ and musician Don Letts as he shares his personal journey with the skinhead subculture and explores the social impact of the movement. The film explores the roots of the movement during the 60s, which was “a harmonious subgroup” heavily influenced by Jamaican music and style, then became “a bigoted subculture in the 1970’s and 1980’s, steeped in far right politics and violence.” The film also depicts how fascists and Neo-Nazis have appropriated the subculture.
