HISTORY is set to premiere the remake of miniseries Roots on Memorial Day 2016. The eight-hour drama will air air over four consecutive nights at 9 p.m., beginning Monday, May 30. The series, developed by HISTORY from A+E Studios, and based on Alex Haley’s novel, is a historical portrait of American slavery that recounts one family’s survival despite hardship. Roots will be simulcast on A&E and Lifetime, in addition to HISTORY. The cast includes Forest Whitaker (Fiddler), Anna Paquin (Nancy Holt) and Laurence Fishburne (Alex Haley), among others.
