U.K.-based documentary film distributor Dogwoof has closed a deal with A&E IndieFilms and RatPac Documentary Films for Author: The JT LeRoy Story. The film, which recently made its world premiere at Sundance, is directed by Jeff Feuerzeig (The Devil and Daniel Johnston). The film chronicles how Laura Albert, a punk rocker and a sex worker, took the literary world by storm with gritty prose by creating an avatar, JT LeRoy. The deal includes all international rights (excluding North America) with a U.K. theatrical release planned for 2016. The film was produced by A&E IndieFilms, RatPac Documentary Films in association with Complex Corporation and VICE.
