The 27th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival presented its Ensemble Performance Award to the film The Big Short, which follows a group of conspiratorial money managers who benefitted from the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis. The award recognized the film’s cast, which includes Christian Bale, Ryan Gosling, Steve Carell and Brad Pitt. Past recipients of the award include Argo, American Hustle and The Social Network. Mary Hart hosted the gala on January at the Palm Springs Convention Center, and the festival runs January 1-11.
