Tokyo-based Star Channel has a new exclusive television content deal with HBO. The channel will expand its current premium movie services by becoming the exclusive television home of HBO titles, including the new season of Game of Thrones. Star Channel, which plans to offer OTT and 4K services, operates three channels on BS10, whose non-scramble transmission is received by 37 million households. The deal follows the appointment of Hiroko Ozawa, former GM of Sony Pictures Television’s AXN Japan, as co-representative director and CMO.
