The Golden Globe nominations are in. Perhaps unsurprisingly Lincoln, a film about the 16th president starring Daniel Day-Lewis and directed by Stephen Spielberg, leads the pack in movie nominations; and Homeland, starring Claire Danes and Damien Lewis about anti-terrorism efforts, leads the pack in TV noms.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association (which votes for the Globes) was also kind to  Argo, Django Unchained, Les Misérables and Silver Linings Playbook.

Of course, unlike the Oscars, the Golden Globes also award the best in U.S. television, and in that category Homeland, Downton Abbey, Modern Family, Boardwalk Empire and The Newsroom lead the group of nominees.  A full list of nominees is below.

The 70th annual awards Golden Globes will be telecast from the Beverly Hilton Hotel on Sunday, January 13, 2013 (two days before the Academy Award nominations are announced. The Oscars themselves will take place on February 24).

Traditionally, when compared to the Oscars, the Golden Globes are considered the more fun event (dinner and drinks included, there’s a more casual vibe, plus, of course, includes TV too). But it’s often a prediction of Oscars, and a sneak peek of what’s likely to come.

The show will be hosted by Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, both of whom are nominated for Best Actress in a Comedy — Poehler for Parks and Recreation and Tina Fey for 30 Rock.
