NATPE has announced a partnership with L.A. Screenings Independents 2018 to leverage its reach and add value to the growing annual event.

Initially promoted by VideoAge’s Dom Serafini (pictured above at the original presentation) as early as 2008, and later spearheaded by Isabella Marquez, the L.A. Screenings Independents are a series of initiatives aimed at helping indie exhibitors to take advantage of the 2,000 or so program buyers who attend the Screenings. Serafini is also credited with changing the name of the event from “May Screenings” to “L.A. Screenings” in 1983.

The Independents marketplace portion will take place May 15 to 18, 2018 (with setup on May 14) at the Intercontinental Hotel Los Angeles in Century City in advance of the 55-year-old screenings, which the major Hollywood studios hold each year for international TV program buyers.

NATPE brings its deep industry connections to the table, offering fresh business and content opportunities, including international co-productions and robust conference services to global buyers and senior executives.

At the L.A. Screenings Independents 2018, NATPE will provide attendees with a range of new services, including access to the entire event database, exclusive business driven sessions, and NATPE Connect, an interactive platform with concierge services to facilitate meetings on site. Attendees will be charged U.S.$50 for access to all of the aforementioned services.

For NATPE, partnering with the L.A. Screenings Independents delivers on the promise of a year-round association providing its constituents from around the world with strong business value that will offer opportunities to generate new deals and effective networking to accelerate their businesses globally.

“We couldn’t be happier to have NATPE as our partner to take our event to the next level,” said Isabella Marquez, president of the L.A. Screenings Independents. “This year’s L.A. Screenings Independents will no doubt become a premier event for the global independent production community.”

NATPE president and CEO, JP Bommel, added: “This partnership exemplifies our mission to provide buyers from around the world a first look at new programming opportunities from all over the world, including Canada, Latin America, and Asia. We are thrilled to join forces with Isabella Marquez who has spearheaded this must-attend marketplace.”
